Newest Roku devices?

I live out in the desert in nowhere Nevada. No cable and sketchy phone service. I have an approximate 10 year old Roku system that I have been pleased with that I use by hotspotting my phone. Recently,  I started using the T-Mobile router that automatically  connects to the internet via phone connection. It works ok. I keep seeing "New" Roku products being advertised. But don't understand how they can improve my reception or viewing pleasure.  Can someone please explain the benefits that "I" can possibly enjoy over my current setup?

Thanks!

  • You can find your old model and compare it to new models here:

In general, newer ones might have:  4K, HDR, dual band vs 2,4Ghz only etc. depending on what the old one had.  They're also likely to be faster, have more RAM and storage, and likely to be supported longer by a wide variety of apps.

  • An older device with an old OS tends to get more and more apps over time that stop being compatible.  If it still works without issues and the new features are not something that you can take advantage of, then stick with it until you do start having issues.  10 years though is about the length of time you are going to get before issues start creeping in, especially if you can no longer update to the latest OS that Roku has out.
