Oh and it's a rechargable remote so pairing I read was; hold reset button on back + Home button...? That right?
dude55, I may have made a bad assumption. When you said you got a new Ultra, I assumed you meant the latest model 4850 (there have been several "Ultra" models over the years). The remote that comes with the 4850 doesn't have a button on the back. If yours does and it's rechargeable, it's the original Voice Remote Pro. The button on the back is the pairing button (not a reset button) and you can put the remote into pairing mode by either holding the button on the back for ~5 seconds or simultaneously holding Home and Back (the two buttons next to each other below the power button) for ~5 seconds.
It only matters what remote you have because if there's a button on the back, the pairing light is also on the back. If there's no button on the back, the light is on the front. To reset either remote, press and hold the Home and Back buttons simultaneously for ~20 seconds. The pairing light may start to flash while you're holding the buttons and then go out eventually. Release the buttons when the light goes out and try pairing it again.

Hi, yeah this is a refurbished Ultra Voice remote, with the button and light on the back. I've done everything you have suggested; paired it again and again to make sure it's really connected but no % shows on the screen and if I push the mic button it says that it can't... something about going to Support for help.

Voice Remote Pro 2nd edition. For what it's worth (FWIW), I was resetting, holding Back and Home. Got distracted and released buttons after holding for maybe 5 seconds (instructions say hold for 20, I think). Anyway, I was surprised to see all fixed and working fine. Also, re-pairing was unnecessary. FWIW.
