Is the Roku 3820R Remote IR or Bluetooth?

Is the remote for the Roku 3820R IR or Bluetooth?  Remote isn't working out of the box.  It recognizes battery power and I have been able to pair it, but none of the buttons work.

Its neither, it is wifi-direct, a different form of RF remote. Sticks never work with IR remotes, no IR sensor. Roku remotes haven't used Bluetooth since the Roku 2 xs & xd ten years ago.

I was wondering because the stick recognizes the remote's battery power but none of the buttons work.  I've paired it and it pairs and recognizes the battery power but still none of the buttons work.

      Thanks for the info!

Are you using the supplied usb cable with bump in the middle? The Remote and Internet both communicate with usb cable not the stick itself. If you're using the long-range wireless receiver cable it might be bad?
