File Server Built Into Roku?

Will Roku be adding a file server into any of their devices in the future?  We use an external drive to watch quite a bit of content, and the only way to put new content onto the drive is to unplug it and connect it to another computer.  It would be much more convenient to just attach to the drive via our Roku and upload the content through a file server.  This would be an easy thing to add, and I know a number of people who would use it (from reading message boards as well as friends), so not sure why this isn't a thing yet.

Thanks!

I seriously doubt Roku would ever add such functionality. I only know of one device that supports that functionality, and that's the Nvidia Shield. Some of the other, lower cost Android based devices might also support accessing the drive remotely. But it doesn't fit within the Roku design plan for their devices. It also opens a potential security hole for someone to access the Roku internal file structure and possibly mess with the operating system, potentially bricking the entire device.
