My Roku device is already connected and set up to the TV, the Roku remote works other than the on/off and volume buttons. They worked perfectly on my Vizio tv.
I recently received an Emerson TV (model LF501EM5F) from a friend and I'm having trouble connecting both a universal remote and my Roku remote. I’ve tried every code I could find online, but I can't get it to connect to the TV. The Roku remote works with the Emerson TV, but the on/off and volume buttons do not function. The Roku remote worked perfectly on my previous Vizio. I understand that the Roku remote pairs with the Roku device through Wi-Fi and that the TV controls (power, volume) require different codes. I’ve contacted both Emerson and Roku support but haven’t received any helpful responses.
The universal remote will not connect to the TV. I care more about the Roku remote than the universal one, I don’t know how to connect it. When I try to go to settings, devices & remotes, and link it that way, it never registers or pops up.
I was on Roku support chat box for hour an hour last night and they couldn’t figure out the issue or what I was trying to explain. They suggested a new Roku all together but it doesn’t make sense when 30 minutes prior it was working just fine on the Vizio and still does. It’s not a tv/roku issue, it’s just connecting the Roku remote and universal remote to the tv issue.
I hope this helps, sorry for the long explanation, I just want to be as clear as possible.

@Tiboburkee
helpful in these situations. since other people have have the same issue with the Emerson TV
In the title of the thread, it lists express+ 4k, but you didn't start the thread. And then you have Premiere 4620 listed in your signature, what model do you actually have? The 4620 didn't come with remote with TV IR on board, nor a tv power key. It did have volume for headphone jack, and it controlled certain models of tv brands by cec only.
As for the Emerson tv if Emerson codes don't work in the universal remote, try the Sylvania tv codes as well. When Emerson/Sylvania switch to a code no brand ever used before and so it wasn't preset into any oem or universal remote. It took two or three years for it finally show up in other remotes released after that. Of course this was about ten years ago. 🙂
