The Bose should be hooked to hdmi-arc, once it is refresh the cec devices under controlling other devices in the Roku tv menu.

Roku remotes only control tv's, its up to the Tv to control the stereo via cec.

A couple of questions - are your sure it doesn't say "AV IN" by that yellow connector?  Also, I can't find any Bose 123, but I do see Bose 3-2-1.

You are so right...3 2 1 it is and you're correct about the av in.

Not trying to usurp renojim (he knows his stuff) but we're talking about this system, right?

Aren't you simply wanting to use it for the sound for your TV? You wouldn't be outputting the video from the TV to the sound system, would you? Only the audio, right? And you'd simply use the RCA plugs connected to the red/white RCA jacks to connect the TV and sound system, if that's the case.

I was told by Bose that I needed to do this. The sound came when put on FM, but not on the TV - no sound at all

I am tech challenged and I'm flying by the seat of my pants.

  • Im dealing with the same situation, HDMI 1 on the Roku TV is listed as "ARC HDMI", and the Bose 3-2-1 series 2, has "HDMI" Port, not marked ARC (Irrelevant, but in the event someone may not know the "ARC HDMI" serves as regular HDMI port when used with device that is older and has only regular HDMI port). I used an HDMI cable from HDMI port 3 to the Bose HDMI port and DVDs play on the tv, and sound comes through the Bose perfectly. However, im unable to get regular TV programming sound to come through the Bose 3-2-1 system. I plan to get the optical link connector today and connect the Tv and Bose that way, in hopes the tv audio comes through Bose, then hope my xbox 1 works on HDMI port 2 (if it doesnt come through optical cable connector) will report back with updated information if successful.

In addition to the arc input you have to refresh the hdmi-cec devices in the tv settings to get the audio working.
