CC has no way to turn off

My Roku tv has blacked out area for closed caption. But no closed caption show up. In the Accessibility menu does not show any c.c. Options to turn it in or off.

Not all channels choose to use the default controls Roku provides. I'm guessing this is so they will have consistent controls with versions of their app running on platforms other than Roku.  Often these options are accessed by pressing the up and/or down cursor control keys while viewing the program to pop the channel's own control options on the screen.

My tv does not even have an option to turn cc on or off in the accessibility & language setting. It used to but at some point it was no longer there. That is when this started. I have reset my tv and updated it.

Thanks for keeping us updated, Davidlg1964.

We see that the Closed Captioning feature on your Roku disappeared. We're here to help.

Please be advised that closed captions are not visible until you activate them. On certain service providers, closed captions are activated from within the channel, and the closed captioning settings on your Roku® streaming device do not impact the content from these service providers.

To isolate the issue you're facing, additional information is needed so we can pinpoint what's causing the problem.

        • May I know if this is a specific channel issue? Or on your Roku's accessibility settings?
        • Did you receive any recent updates that might trigger the issue? If so, please provide us with the latest software version of your Roku by navigating to Settings > System > About.

In the meantime, try visiting this support article on How to enable closed captioning.

Please keep us posted for more updates.

        All the best,
        Emman
