Cannot get Roku stick to connect to wifi

I cannot get to my home screen, I get a prompt saying that Roku cannot cannot connect to wifi and I need to go to network settings. Here's the issue, I don't have a Roku remote seeing as we use the app on our phones but this didn't work since it's offline. I've restarted the device, and it's the same screen. I've also restarted the router and it's not the wifi because everything else hooks up to it just fine. How can I get around this network settings screen with a Roku remote? Do I have to go back to factory settings, and will this work without a remote?

    Welcome, Court7

Your Roku Streaming Stick appears to be offline, and without a remote,  it’s hard to get to the network setup. The Roku app only works when the device is already online, so it can’t connect right now. To fix this, you’ll need a physical remote to reconnect your Roku to Wi-Fi.

To get a compatible remote, feel free to take a look here!

  • Can I link up a new remote when it's offline like this?

Court7 , what's the model number of your stick written on it somewhere?  Does it use a special USB cable with the Wi-Fi module embedded in the cable (an obvious bulge in the cable)?

  • Not sure of the model number, but it's a basic 4k streaming stick, no special USB cable
