Can Roku control TV and Tivo box?

Hello,

My father has dementia and I wanted to get him something that makes his TV, Tivo cable and streaming services easier to navigate.  He has a Samsung TV and a Tivo box.  His Samsung TV isn't new enough to have the easy to use home screen.  His Samsung remote also doesn't have any of the buttons for streaming apps.  I was thinking a Roku may be able to solve this. 

Would a Roku be able to control his Samsung TV by turning it on and his Tivo box (which is basically his cable box)?  I'm really trying to have 1 remote control all of them with a friendly user interface/home screen.

    Sorry, no. Roku voice remotes can only control the power and volume of (most) TVs.

      Ok thanks so much!  I had a feeling this wasn't the case but the Costco sales rep in the TV department suggested it.  Much appreciated.

    I have the Roku Pro 65" TV with voice remote and a TiVo Roamio box and found the code 0091 controls both my Roku TV and the TiVo perfectly. Not exactly the scenario you have, but wanted to post this code for anyone who needs it as it took a while to find the right code.
