Brand new Roku streaming stick + stuck on bouncing logo

Bought brand new Roku Streaming Stick + and it hooked to wireless but am now stuck on bouncing Roku letters after checking for update in initial set up. Help?  Tried to reset it, switched TVs, etc. but no luck moving past this.

  • Hi. I had this problem with the bouncing logo, too. Drove me crazy for a couple of days. I tried installing Roku on different TVs, swapping power cords, etc. All the while, My Roku power cord was plugged into a USB port on my TV. When I plugged the Roku power cord directly into a wall outlet using the AC/USB adapter I got with my iPhone, I immediately got past the bouncing logo and was able to complete the installation of my Roku. I hope this helps you.

  • Hi Danny,

My Roku (approx. 9 months old) suddenly stopped working. I have tried everything. It will turn on with the bouncing logo then say no signal. How can I exchange this for a new working one/get a refund. Thank you

  • Drove myself crazy trying to fix this same problem.  Brand new Roku player was stuck on bouncing logo.  Well I saw one guy reply about trying to plug the power supply to the player, directly into wall with iPhone plug , instead of plugging it into usb on the tv for its power.  Well that worked! I believe the problem is that some tvs , especially older ones, don’t supply enough power to the Roku device via the USB port on the tv.  Try it!!  It works!!

Thanks for letting us know about the issue that you are experiencing.

We recommend rebooting both your wireless router and your Roku device.

I'd also recommend trying to connect your device to an alternate network, such as a mobile hotspot, to update your device and see if you can get the device set up. Then once the device is set up, trying to connect the device back to your wireless network.

      Please keep us posted.

      Thanks,
      Danny

We bought our Roku stick in 2018 and have recently been having the same issue. Have tried the soft restart which occasionally works (unplugging for 2 mins then plugging) but have been unsuccessful. We also tried the factory reset suggested in this thread (pressed the reset button for 10 seconds, saw the flashing light), but it remains stuck on the bouncy letters.

        HELP PLEASE!!!

  • Same problem. Looks common. Roku has no support except for some no-nothing subcontractor called JustAnswer. Utterly worthless. Will return, cancel my Roku membership and buy competitor's product unless they respond to my emails today.

I have been having the same problem every time I use my ROKU - we as stupid purchasers are ignored by this company. You will note there are nothing about how to contact someone ALIVE to answer problem. They have our $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and due to their stupidity ignore our attempts to find someone to help with THIER PROBLEM.

Please write a scathing review on Amazon and give them one star. It's the only way they might pay attention because, as you point out, they already have our money. I am returning my streaming stick for a full refund. That helps, too. But they won't reimburse me for the wasted hours.

  • The bouncing logo is stuck on the screen, and a factory reset is not working. What should I do next?

The factory reset requires holding the button in for a minimum of 30 seconds. Not one second less, regardless of what's happening on screen. If that truly doesn't reset the Roku, then it's defective. Either a power surge fried something or just something as simple as a component failure. I had a brand new Insignia Roku TV that was stuck in the setup/update loop. I returned it to the store and the replacement has been functional for over 4 years without a hiccup. It's slow, as it's the small 720p set and doesn't have the power of my Roku 4K TV, but still works fine.

  • I have a Roku streaming stick which i got out the box which is stuck in the bouncing logo.

I have done multiple resets of both the streaming stick and rebooted the router on the computer. Can someone assist?

Have you tried the solution I found?  You have to hold the reset button for 40+ seconds.  That is t he only solution I have found that works.

Hi. I had this problem too. I tried switching cords and TVs, resetting, etc. My problem was solved when I plugged the Roku power cord into a wall outlet using a 110v-to-USB adapter.

  • Same problem as others in these posts.

I was able to fix by pressing the factory rest button on the roku stick itself.  Note I had to do it  4 or 5 times and even then the bouncing letters did not go away (and reset start) for about 5 minutes.

Had to re-establish my account and re-enter passwords on all apps.

I only use this to get AT&T TV on my Sony TV (app not on goole play).  Other than that, this stick is worthless.

Same issue as everyone else. 3810x stick. Powered by wall socket. Reset at least 4x already. Now it goes from the bouncing letters to a full magenta screen with the bouncing letters noise in the background. Serial # 21512C019804
