Bottom Half of Screen Fuzzy on TCL Roku TV

I have a TCL Roku TV Model S405 from 2018. There is now a horizontal single black line of pixels halfway down the screen. The picture on the top half is in focus. The picture on the bottom half is showing duplicates, slightly offset. This shows on *all* screens. The Home Screen has this issue so it has nothing to do with the HDMI or WiFi connections. Moving Home Screen options from the bottom half (where they are out of focus) to the top half puts them in focus. It is clearly a screen issue. Playing a DVD shows the top half in focus, the bottom half fuzzy with duplicate images slightly offset. And so forth.

I have turned the TV off and on several times. No Help.

I cut off the power to the TV for minutes and then restored power. No help.

I ensured latest updates installed. No help.

  • Sounds like the screen or the control board is going bad on the TV.  I suggest reaching out to TCL support directly and see if they can assist.  Hopefully your TV is still under warranty.

Because 7-year-old tv is out of warranty, tcl support said they would not help in any way.

I think it will cost more to repair than a new tv. Sigh.
