After latest update to Roku TV Xfinity remote no longer controls TV

After latest update to Roku TV Xfinity cable remote no longer controls TV (power, volume, input, etc).

We have a small hotel and several Roku TVs. We also have Comcast cable which requires cable boxes. The Roku TVs are great for guest mode, and we really love them.  However after the latest update the Xfinity remotes that control the cable box no longer control the TV power, volume or TV input. I've tried several remotes, reprogramming them and no luck. We have several TVs so I was able to test it out on a TV that didn't get the update and the remotes still worked, run update now, then they didn't work once the TV restarted.

We have a mixture of Phillips Roku TVs and TCL Roku TVs.

The remotes worked with Software Version 12.0.0 Build 4182 and stopped working as soon as Software Version 12.5.0 Build 4176 was applied.

Is this a bug or working as intended? We hate that folks have to use two remotes to turn on the TV and watch cable.

Thank you in advance!

  • Was able to resolve this by searching for a new code. The code listed for the TCL and Phillips Roku TV types on the Xfinity website no longer work after the 12.5 update, but this did:

If it has a Setup button:

    1. Turn on your TV.
    2. Press and hold Setup until the light at the top of the remote changes from red to green.
    3. Enter 9-9-1. The light should flash green twice.
    4. Keep pressing CH ^ until the TV turns off.
    5. Once the TV turns off, press Setup to lock in the code.
    6. Press the TV power button on the remote. If the TV turns on, you're all set!

This got things back to happy. Posting for anyone else having the same issue.

  • Try code 12049 or if it only takes four-digit codes 2049.

Had the same problem - suddenly Xfinity remote stopped working.

My current remote is a XR15 - could not make this solution work since there is no 'setup' button.
I went to an older remote - XR2  Version U2 - and was able to make your solution work.

      Thanks
