Roku Camera not recording video, only pictures

My cameras used to record video, usually about 15 seconds each. Now, it records "motion" but only shows a picture. No more video, NONE. I have done all the things posted on this site to fix this problem.

  1. Ensure that the Roku Smart Home app and camera firmware are up to date.
  2. Ensure that motion and sound are turned on in the Events Recording setting.
  3. Check if there are no event recording schedules.
  4. Restart the modem and router, and ensure that the camera is connected to the network and receiving enough connection.
  5. Restart Camera.
  6. Restart the Roku Smart Home App and try to sign out and sign back in.

I did everything above but still no video. anyone have any other ideas.

    Hey erikacabrera,

Thank you for letting us know that your Roku Camera isn't recording events. We're here to help.

Try to log out of the smart home app and log back in. Then, try the following:

    1. At the app's log-in screen, do not click "Sign in as" when the email address is already filled in.
    2. Instead, click "Use a different Roku account" at the bottom.
    3. Enter the email address (use the same one as it showed up on the previous page).
    4. Enter the account password and hit Sign in.

After logging in, close the smart home app or lock your phone. Trigger motion on the camera and check for an event recording; it may take a minute for the notification to appear.

    Hope this helps.

  • These are not helpful and you can’t get to support personal for assistance. Getting totally discussed with this.  Please help I’m paying for monitoring and can’t get it to work.

Try calling it's better and they help out a bit more. Also there in India so that explains the issue on why our problems in the state aren't being adressed

  • Take a look at my account and you will see how many times I have tried to get this is work.  It took me several days to get into my account. So then you go and adjust everything and then it still doesn’t work it’s not to user friendly for me. And there was no way to contact Roku.  Please email me with the step by step direction.  Thank you!!

  • I had exactly the same thing, I didn’t know what to do, but in the end, one of these helped:

Check Storage & Subscriptions: Ensure your cloud storage (if using Roku’s paid plan) isn’t full or expired. Some features may limit recording if the subscription lapses.
If using local storage (SD card), verify it’s not corrupted or full. Try reformatting or replacing it.Wi-Fi Signal Strength: Weak or unstable connections can cause videos to fail. Move the camera closer to the router or use a Wi-Fi extender.
Factory Reset the Camera: As a last resort, perform a factory reset on the camera (via the app or hardware button) and set it up again.
Contact Roku Support: If the issue persists, reach out to Roku’s official support—there may be a known bug or hardware issue.
Test Another Device:  Try viewing the camera feed on a different smartphone or tablet to rule out app/device-specific glitches.

I hope I was able to help somehow
