Battery Camera SE stuck in checking for updates

Purchased an Battery Camera SE. Charged it overnight. Started the install process (power up, recognized, added to Wi-Fi network) and the app appears to be stuck in the "checking for updates" step. I've let it run 5, 10, 30 minutes, up to and hour and still "checking for updates." I've done this 5 times. I've even put it back on the charger. I have a blinking yellow light followed by a red blinking light and repeat.

    Following up on this issue. Please perform these troubleshooting steps below:

    1. Wait at least 8 minutes during the update.
    2. If your internet connection is weak, try connecting to a better one.
    3. If the update doesn't finish within 60 minutes, you should attempt the process again. 


    If the problem persists, let us know.

    For the benefit of others I found out that the flashing red lights means "error" so it's possible this camera is defective. I'll return it and try another one. Hopefully that one will work. While (somehow) my logon has been tagged "reel rookie" I've had this system for over a year.  I may junk the whole thing, sell it on e-bay, and switch to ring or blink systems.

      • Provide your device Model Number. (To locate this, you can find it at the back of the camera.)
      • Can you share where you purchased the camera?

        DEVICE MODEL NUMBER: SCB11X

        Purchased at a Walmart in Fullerton California.

        This is the replacement camera I purchased yesterday (7/08/2025). I charged the camera overnight and had the same result.  

        As a side note, I currently have two outdoor cameras (both solar powered), an indoor camera and a  doorbell camera. I also have seven sensors (for windows and doors), two smart outlets (for lamps to come on near dusk), and one outdoor smart outlet for patio lights. Is this pushing the performance limits of a monitoring system?
