Live 4K through the Roku Ultra 2024 is NOT vivid and has a washed out look. The app i use is You Tube TV and extensive troubleshooting led me to load the You Tube TV app within the TV's operating system (bypassing the Roku) and it looks great. Prerecorded 4k You Tube clips THROUGH the Roku are also great, as is live or prerecorded in 1020p or 720p. Just the live 4k is the problem. Anyone else?
(I did come across a temporary work-around: Once you try to view a live 4K event that is subpar, go to: Roku Home>settings>system>software update>check now>OK then return to Roku home, select your app, for me You Tube TV and VOILA it's like it is supposed to be. The flaw in that is if you THEN tune to another program and GO BACK to the live 4k, it's washed out - not vivid!!!!!!!!)

Hi wlasley Welcome to the Roku Community!
Thanks for sharing your experience with the picture quality on your Roku Ultra! I'm happy to assist you.
To help better, can you let me know if this issue is happening only on this channel? Also, it might help to update the app. Just highlight it, press the * button, and select the "Update" option.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Thanks Jharra, the ONLY channels/programming with this issue is Live 4K through the Roku. (I stream through You Tube TV.) This is ALL the live 4K - so far, NBC, FoxSports, and ESPN. and i will try the * suggestion tonite on the 7:00 pm game on Fox: Maryland at Ohio State. Once I do that, if it comes in properly, if i change to another game or program and wish to return to live 4K will i have to do the * again or will that stick?

I have the same issue on a Roku stick for what it's worth. Can confirm it's related to any 4k content. Unfortunately that settings workaround doesn't work for me even as a temp fix. This has been most annoying with YouTube content.

Can you load the You Tube TV app through your TV in effect bypassing the Roku? So sad we have to resort to workarounds with an otherwise excellent product. But it will not last forever:
1. Roku may not understand that anyone that buys a new TV, will buy a 4K!
2. More and more programming will be in 4K!!!!!
3. Heartwarming that those that do NOT accommodate 4K, will be put out of business by their own ignorance/lack of expertise!
4. So those that work at Roku have 2 choices:
a. fix this so we can watch live 4K WITHOUT hassle or workarounds or
b. start looking for another job as we will buy OTHER streaming devices that will.

Just found the solution for me. Go to the settings and disable Dolby Vision just 4k HDR

Hi Roku/All-
College football is starting - and this issue STILL hasn't been resolved!
I played around with the manual 4K settings as suggested throughout the thread, and it worked a bit. Still doesn't match the picture I was seeing last fall and up until the Super Bowl this year. More importantly, users shouldn't have to manually adjust this setting every time they want to change the channel!
Interestingly, I've found that this is only applicable to 4K events that are broadcast LIVE. I tried watching the new Alien Earth show in 4K using the YouTube TV on demand capabilities, and it looks FANTASTIC. Settings were kept on 4K Dolby Vision Auto...picture looked immaculate.
Due to Roku's indifference towards this issue, I think I'm just going to move over to the new Apple TV when I can. Roku products just aren't dependable.
