Yeah that was my bad for not paying closer attention, but I also feel that Roku was taking advantage of that possibility. Why would I possibly want the Roku live channel of an app that I could have and access directly? It just seems like they're insinuating themselves where it is less value for more hassle. And then I got irritated again just trying to reply to you because I had to keep signing in and waiting for an email to send me a code like why does that have to happen every single time I sign in 15 minutes apart from each other?
I'm sorry I think that there is a lot of room for improvement. I'm not about to do the mental labor of explaining every single glitch that I run across that causes a problem or this type of thing where there's shady business practices involved but you should take the bulk of comments seriously.
Certainly understand the confusion and frustration. Many of us only know these things through experience and making some of these perceived mistakes ourselves.
Even when I look at subscription providers, they are very vague at times. I have signed up for some free trials in the past from different providers. Sometimes this "free trial" is really a pro-rated discount off a full month's subscription price. At other times, it really is a no-catch free trial as long as you cancel within the alotted time.
Another thing I have learned is not to take advantage of a year's discounted price unless I have already experimented with their monthly subscription. Sometimes easier to pay a couple of dollars more to have the freedom to walk away if service begins to underperform or develops issues.
Personally, I have not had issues with RokuPay (the channel x on the Roku Channel offerings) or using the free offers from Roku for channels/apps but others certainly have. Unfortunately, in an attempt to make it easier for users to access/purchase subscriptions from their devices, not all the options available for a subscription are presented on the screen. (and sometimes the channel partners don't offer that information to Roku to display).
As for the 2-factor authorization (the email confirmation for login), you can disable that in the online dashboard over at https://www.roku.com/.
