TCL Roku TV Channel Guide for Antenna Broken

Just got the latest TCL Roku update 14.5.4 Build 5951 and it's terrible.

Issues:

  1. Sluggish UI
  2. Primarily use Antenna for local station viewing but the Guide will only show streaming channel after hitting the home or back buttons on the remote
  3. About every couple of hours when going to Live TV I get the pop-up stating that "Streaming Channels have been added to the guide"  Yep... I don't need that popping up a couple times per hour.
  4. After setting up Favorite Channels,   most of the time they are not shown when I press the left arrow to get the channel list, it only show streaming channel categories/channels and nothing listed un Favorites.. Unless I go into/out of the channel guide, then it eventually shows up.
  5. Can no longer find the option to setup USB stick for "Pause Live TV"

Does anyone do quality control on software updates like this... And since I primarily use my TV for Antenna viewing, why do I have to have software updates... I need a network connection for the GUIDE ONLY...

Instead I get subjected to failed software updates I don't need for features I don't use.

Unfortunately, your experience above is the reason I retired my RokuTV to a guest bedroom and replaced it with a non-smart TV and connected a Roku device to it.

I began to have very sluggish performance with my Insignia Roku and the OTA/Antenna function became increasingly reliant on the Roku OS and affected by too many bugs. (setup with Roku OS8 or 9, and really went downhill beginning with OS11.5).  While the bug may be eventually addressed, it would either be re-introduced or a new one take its place with the next update.  Just too irritating to deal with when trying to relax.

Roku continues to take too many liberties with its OS and the lack of real severability between the OTA and Streaming functions is primarily why I only use and recommend the HDMI connected Roku devices over an integrated RokuTV.  A television should not have to be connected to the internet to watch Over-the-Air programming and access its programming guide.  None of my other televisions in the house have this requirement.
