Rumble app on Roku now showing ads?

I log into my Rumble account through the Rumble app tile on Roku.  Starting yesterday Rumble is now forcing me to watch an advertisement prior to the video (similar to what Youtube does).  This ONLY happens when watching on the Roku Rumble app, not on the computer or phone Rumble sites.  What is going on?  Why is this only happening on Roku?

  • You need to ask Rumble. Once you're within a specific app/channel, Roku has no control over what you see. Anything that happens within the app itself is under Rumble's control. Just like in YouTube, Google is in complete control of the ads shown on that app/channel.

    Hi MJPinJacksonTN,

    Greetings from the Roku Community!

Please be advised that Roku only transmits the channel and is not responsible for the ads and content within an app. The respective channel solely chooses the content and ads, and we have no control over the programming or operation of the channel.

We recommend contacting Rumble Support to report the issue and for further help.

    We appreciate your understanding.

    All the best,
    Chel

  • I was disappointed when they applied auto play to the videos with no option to disable it (my broadband is metered), and now forced ads... or pay up.  I don't mind the ads from the video creators and have patronized many of the channel's sponsors because it helps and motivates them to put out their great work.  But Rumble extorting the channel's videos to amp up their own bottom line is a deal killer for me and will certainly reduce video view counts.  It's why I ditched YouTube, and at least they have a top-notch app platform while Rumble's is mediocre, at best.  It wouldn't surprise me at all that Rumble's greed and platform that resembles something from the 1990's may very well be the means to their demise.  Too bad.

Rumble is apparently going to start transitioning to some ads on certain videos.  They started running a promo for ad-free/premium experience a couple of weeks ago on their site. ($10/mo or $100 year).

I kind of liked the ad-reads that most of the live streamers had available to them, so not really sure how this new avenue works yet.  Actually, a few of the creators I watch are also kind of confused so I don't think it has been effectively communicated how this is going to be implemented.

I haven't seen any of the pre-roll or mid-break ads yet for the creators I watch.

Thank you!  I did hear about that.  I am puzzled because it only occurs when I watch Rumble via Roku and not on the Rumble site on a computer or phone.  These ads seem to be exclusive to the Roku app for some reason.  Well, I might as well go back to watching Youtube now.

I get two ads at the front of videos when connecting to Rumble via browser on laptop. This has been the case for a while. Up until a couple days ago never had ads run on Roku app.

Just checked and Iphone app has two ads preceding as well. I rarely have connected to Rumble via their app so not sure what it was previous to today.

Do you have ad blockers running on any of your devices?

  • And now they are putting them into the body of the videos.  Now their videos are pretty unwatchable.

  • I think I'm going to pay the $100/year for no commercials.  What got me was the commercials in the middle of the video.  I do understand that Rumble first few years they were losing money and now they've built up their number of viewers where they can get paid from advertisers.  I don't buy cable TV or yahoo/Hulu live TV and only have a couple of paid subscriptions at one time so I think I'll support Rumble which I like that they believe in the free speech/no censoring.

When you sign up for Rumble Premium, look under the plans (monthly or yearly) for the "Promo Code" section.

Just use the code "SALTY" or "BONGINO" and you will save 10% off the first year annual cost. ($89).

Thanks for those promo codes!  I already purchased at full price but I did do a quick search for promo codes and nothing came up, Bongino should have been obvious to me to try, but oh well, maybe next year when I renew I'll try it!

Have you paid the $100/year for no commercials?  Does this solve the problem?  My fear is to pay the $100 and still have the annoying ads.

Yes, it very much solves the problem.  No more commercials at all.

  • The main thing that I haven't seen anyone mention . . .

All the ads I see are TERRIBLE A.I. Generated GARBAGE for FAKE PRODUCTS!  How is Rumble allowing this obvious non-human junk? And the SAME Ad will play twice in a row! It's really downgraded my opinion of Rumble.

In fact, it leads me to directly view it as an extortion ploy to force people to sign up for "premium".

In all honesty, I could live with REAL ads for REAL products . . . Car commercials, laundry soap, shampoo, etc., But I will not abide "Click here for this SECRET product before it gets taken down" A.I. nonsense!

Note to anyone from Rumble: I will pay YouTube before I pay Rumble for their obvious extortion plan. Funny how we didn't get A.I. ads before Bongino left!

  • OP.  So what happened was that I was using the old Rumble app on RokuTV, which has since been discontinued over a year ago.  When using the old Rumble app I did not get the ads before every video (like ewwtube).  But once switching to the current Rumble app on Roku the ads came back, unless you paid for a subscription.  I guess that I was living on borrowed time with the older app from when Rumble was Free!
