I am also having this same issue. Some times it will do it up twenty times during one tv show. It’s ver annoying. I hope there is a fix for this.

I am experiencing the same issues on TCL Roku TV. I have tried the following;
Checking for a software update.
Removing the channels and adding them back.
Factory reset.
None have fixed the problem so far.

For everyone having the issue with shows stopping and going to home screen, all's you gotta do is unplug TV for 30 seconds and plug back in. That's it! After 2 months of straight frustration I finally got ahold of a live agent that had me do this and I've had zero problems since!!
I also am experiencing same issue. There are several post concerning this issue. Roku currently has no solution nor reason why it does this. It’s frustrating and disappointing.

I am having same trouble since yesterday 5/21. When I go to re turn tv on through app on my phone, device has ? as the picture and not the tv.

I am having the same problem. I think a fire stick may be better. was going to upgrade my roku, but there's NO support for this issue and I've wasted enough of my time re loading the show I'm trying to watch.

3 tvs 2 of which are Roku tvs. Happens on live tv Hulu and streaming like Discovery +. I will be calling support. Sounds like you don’t have a solution. If not, I have one that involves canceling service.

.I have a Roku Tv, Jvc . I can’t watch any of my app without it going back to the home screen. Seems it does it more on some apps though, like Disney + and Prime. It’s been going for weeks and I’m so annoyed. I even did a factory reset and it still is doing it.

Me too. I tried watching something on the Roku Channel last night and it worked fine, but I can hardly get through a half inning on MLB.TV without it dumping me to the home screen. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the app and forced the system to reboot. Everything says it is up to date but it is extremely frustrating to use right now.

I am experiencing the same problem, with numerous streaming channels.
I have performed every suggested step but the problem of Return to Home Screen persists.Many users are posting regarding Return to Home Screen problems but no solution seems to solve the problem.
Has Roku been infected with malicious software?
It is frustrating that no Roku technical team members can be contacted directly, but users must post to the Roku Community board and hope for a solution to appear from other users with similar problems.
