Hi Diane16,
Welcome to the Roku Community!
We noticed in your post that you are having trouble streaming on your Roku TV. No worries, help is here.
Before proceeding, could you please describe the specific behavior of the channels you're experiencing issues with? Does this only occur with free channels? In the meantime, we recommend trying the following steps:
Check your network connection:
- Press Home on your Roku remote
- Scroll and select Settings
- Select Network
- Select Check connection
- Press Home on your Roku remote
- Scroll and select Settings
- Select System
- Select Power. If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step
- Select System restart.
If the issue persists, please let us know. We'll wait for your response.
Thanks,
Riamie

RokuRiamie-D I'm having, and have been having this same issue, and it's really become quite tiring and frustrating. Can't watch any of the Roku channels, or the movies on the Roku Channel menu, nor the trailers. I restart, reset the connection, do a system restart, etc, and still get just a black screen when I try to play ANYTHING (well, the OTA channels, play audio, but no video).
This has become really frustrating, especially as there are times when everything works, but a few hours later, or less, it all just stops working as it should. No rhyme or reason why it's acting so erratic and unreliably. I can see the menus & program guide, but that's it, no programming...- RokuRiamie-D8 months agoCommunity Moderator
Hi StevenCee,
Thanks for posting in the Roku Community!
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and for the troubleshooting steps you took to fix the issue. We would like to look closely into this.
We highly suggest you try connecting your Roku device to a mobile hotspot and see if the same issue occurs. To do this, please follow the steps below:
- Follow the hotspot setup instructions for your phone
• If you have an iOS® device, refer to Apple's documentation on setting up a personal hotspot.
•If you have an Android™ device, refer to Google's documentation on sharing a mobile connection by hotspot. - Connect your Roku device to a mobile hotspot
> Press home of your Roku remote
> Scroll down to Settings
> Select Network > Setup Connection > Wireless
> Select your mobile hotspot name from the list of available Wi-Fi networks
> If you do not see your mobile hotspot name select Scan again to see all networks
> Enter your mobile hotspot password
> Select Connect
We hope to get this sorted out soon. If the issue persists please let us know.
Cheers,

RokuRiamie-D Hi, I'm still dealing with this. Just today, I was watching ok for a couple hours, then it just stopped working again. Trying to play trailers or even the movie itself (on the Roku Channel), resulted in nothing but a black screen with a circling arrow in the middle, which then vanishes, leaving nothing. If I hit the pause control, I see the track for the movie, but hitting it again to play, or trying to fast forward, has no response. Then it will often mean no channels will play, sometimes even my paid services, like Netflix or Amazon Prime!
I restart the tv, reset the connection, which restarts it, and sometimes it still will not work, and sometimes it will, for anywhere from a few hours, to a day or so, before it stops again.
Also, the movie InterReflections, will play, but there's no sound whatsoever! I've tried it both on my TV, and on my computer, and in both places it shows the video, but no sound.
What is going on with all these buggy glitches?
