The Roku settings primarily control the Roku device. (not the connected peripherals like TVs and displays it is attached to). This generally applies when using both the physical remote or the mobile app. (ie. when using the physical remote, the Power button needs to be used to turn off the TV or display).
Unless your TV/display has their own Settings that you can use to control suspend or detect inactivity, you are most likely limited to physically turning off the display.

Thanks for the reply.
This isn't about the TV. Or the Roku device. It's about how the Roku app functions on a mobile phone.
On almost every app I've ever used, the app/mobile device screen will either fade or Timeout (turn off) after a period of inactivity. The only exceptions I've ever seen are when the app has a customizable setting for "always on" (like a timer or stopwatch). Even a backlit TV remote turns off.
After I hit play and a show has started, the roku app and thus my phone stay on. I have my phone's display setting to Timeout turn after 30 seconds. Something in the roku app is overriding that system setting.

Many phone apps will override the screen timeout. It would be nice if they offered the ability to adjust it or follow the phone setting. I just manually turn the screen off if I've finished with the app that does it. On an iPhone, that's simply tapping the power button on the side of the phone.

Hey there, mdezrin
We understand you want to turn off your screen when not using the Roku app remote. When using the app, it may not automatically turn off your mobile device screen. Instead, you can manually turn off your device by pressing the power button.
Hope this helps! Let us know if you need more info.

Good grief. Press the power button on my phone to turn off the screen? Who knew.
Seriously, everyone knows how to manually turn off their display.
I take it there is no setting to make sure my display turns off on its own.
