Legacy Tablo TV App Stopped Working On All Roku Devices.

The Legacy Tablo TV app stopped working on both my Roku Streaming sticks and Roku 3s yesterday, October 18th, 2024.  The Roku devices upgraded to Software Version 14.0.  Is Roku working on a fix for the Legacy Tablo TV app with Software Version 14?

  • Arjiemar, I already did that twice and have had the ticket closed on me without resolving the problem. I also followed troubleshooting directions and sent a video of the problem occuring with the tracker id. I have found my own solution and discovered that the problem is a Roku problem of some sort with the Tablo app. I ordered a Fire TV stick that was delivered yesterday. I set it up plugged into my Roku TV and in Fire TV installed the Legacy Tablo app. I have tried out moving through the menu options and viewed several recordings and deleted them with no problems. This means the crashing of the app is a Roku error, no matter how many times Roku Customer Service closes my ticket due to not hearing from their engineering department that is supposed to solve the problem. I hate the Fire TV UI, but at least I can view my Tablo recordings.

There's a known issue with fourth generation Tablos and software version 14, but I don't know about legacy Tablos.  Either way, it's Tablo that has to fix their app if there's something in it that's incompatible with a Roku update.  Have you checked their "community"?

  • I have a legacy Tablo quad HDMI. I have been playing it through a Roku for several months now without any problems. Recently when I try to play back a recorded show or watch live TV I get the message  “PLAYBACK FAILED - This video is not playable on your device using the current settings” is often caused by a mismatch of audio settings between your Tablo and your Roku."
I have tried all the recommended trouble shooting suggestions I could find such as factory reset of the Roku twice, Re installing the Tablo app twice, Checking audio settings many times but nothing has helped. I have a second Roku in another room that works fine with the Tablo. Is there something else I can try to get the to get this working again?

Second Roku just did a update and now it doesn't work either.

There has to be more to the HDMI Playback problem than just Roku. Older recordings playback without issue on my legacy Tablo quad.

In my case, CBS went to OTA 3.0 encryption and my legacy Tablo Quad doesn't comply.
