2024 LG G4 Native YouTube TV app better picture quality than 2024 Roku Ultra

The picture quality and brightness are both better on the native LG G4 (OLED65G4SUB, 2024), than on my brand new Roku Ultra 4850R (2024).  It's quite obvious.   I have the Display Type set to Automatic (4k Dolby Vision) on the Roku Settings.   Using the supplied HDMI cable.   Is this a common problem?   Is there a solution?  I would really like to use the Roku Ultra, but not if the picture quality is worse.

Thanks

I’m having the exact same issue as the original post. I just switched over to Roku ultra from the built-in LG TV app and YouTube TV picture quality is much much worse. What is the solution? Saying “check the settings” isn’t a specific enough answer.

The OP mentions brightness being "better". So that would suggest adjusting the brightness setting. (Which way? Which ever one is "better"!)

Basically, all TVs come with some presets, one is usually quite accurate but that may not be the one people prefer. In addition, those presets can usually be adjusted, or they have one or more presets that are adjustable. For example, my dad likes to have the color saturation, contrast and brightness cranked up. On his previous TV, I found a setting called "vivid" that he liked. On his current TV, I had to set it to "custom" and then adjust details to his taste.  (Before setting it to "custom" I couldn't even find anything as simple as a brightness control.)

If you want accurate look for reviews which indicate which picture preset on your TV is accurate, or calibrate it.

Some TVs use a single set of settings for all inputs. Some adjust each input independently.

In general, this is more of a question for a general AV forum.

Oh, and of course, if it's all just one one specific app, that app might be quite different on different platforms.  Even though all come from YouTube, since the platforms are different, they my be written quite differently.
