I was having the same issue as everyone else with the failed update and Error 004 code. I was able to resolve it by going into the secret menu and doing a soft reset. Once I did that I had 3 different updates to go through until it said there were no more. I was getting tired of the failed update attempts everyday, then having to restart again to be able to use my Roku.

It won’t let me choose the cycle software update server.  So I tried the update software underneath and it gets to 60% and then says can’t update,
