This started yesterday. On YoutubeTV when I fast forward though a recorded show it works fine early in the show, but later in the show the problem arises. At some point I fast forward through commercials, and when I hit play it stops and the "standby" (buffering?) circle spins in the middle of the screen. Then after a minute or so the screen goes black except for the spinning circle and that's how it stays, stuck and spinning away, unresponsive.  It's only the fast forward that's problematic and that's only late in the show. I've tried it on a couple of YoutubeTV channels and at least ABC, PBS, my local Fox station, MSNBC, Bundesliga, and the NBA have the problem (I haven't had a chance to try others so I don't know how widespread it is). When I exit to the home screen then open YoutubeTV again any show that was stuck still is stuck in the same place but everything else works if I haven't fast forwarded it. I rebooted the Streambar and the problem persisted. I removed and reinstalled YoutubeTV and rebooted and the problem persisted. I unplugged the Streambar and plugged it back in half a dozen times and the problem persisted. Tonight I bit the bullet and did a factory reset and when I reinstalled YoutubeTV the problem was still there with the exact show that had been frozen, still frozen in the same spot. The network is a constant 46Mbps, and having reset just the Streambar, I guess everything is up to date. I've now hooked a laptop up to the TV so we don't have to deal with the Roku.  Thoughts? Netflix and Max seem to be working just fine and I have never seen anything buffer before on any of the services. Well, except for Apple TV which was unusable so we cancelled. Oh.. also, it's not a smart TV. Dumb as a post.

Having exact same issue when fast forward any recorded show.  Its a real annoying problem

No sense in giving you my info since you should have plenty of data by now and still no resolution.  Maybe time to upgrade to a TV with YouTubeTV and dump Rokus.

I have a Roku Ultra and a Sony Bravia and have the same issue on YouTubeTV. I believe it usually happens on longer recordings… like a long sporting event (golf, soccer, football) that I’ve recorded. I tried everything with various levels of success… fast forwarding till I see the preview window works sometimes. Today I was trying to watch The Open (an 11 hour recording of golf on USA network) and none of the usual tricks worked. While watching a black screen with the spinning ring, I arrowed down on the Roku remote. Then arrowed left to the small HD icon and changed the Auto (1080enhanced) to 720p60 and boom!, the coverage started to play. After watching for about 15 minutes I did the same thing and switched it back to Auto (1080enhanced) and it just kept playing with a higher resolution picture. BTW - the 780 picture was not bad at all, I’d have watched it with that no problem but I wanted to see if I could switch back to better HD once it was going. Hope this trick works for others.

So many of us have been waiting patiently for months for an answer to this significant issue.  Maybe someone could update us on progress to solve this issue.

I have been using Roku, longer than I remember, but my most recent Ultra device was connected in 2019.  I DON'T want to go elsewhere but could you give us some hope...something.  btw is it possible that a new Ultra would have a faster processor that might mitigate this issue?

OK, OP here. I haven't kept up on the conversation but it appears as though there has been no cure, and now it's football season and my sense of humor is shot. Anybody got suggestions about Firestick versus Apple? Any other thoughts? The last thing I want to do is to pay Roku for a new box that replaces a Roku product that doesn't work, they admit it's their fault, and yet they won't support. If there's been a solution and I've just missed it please let me know, but otherwise I'm done here.

I tried resetting the network (rebooting in ROKU) and that didn't help.  I was lucky enough to have a specific show stuck in a loop so I could go there and see if it was fixed.  I also tried unplugging the Roku 4k device and still no luck.

What did work, at least for a while, is resetting the cache using the procedure from this link.  It uses the remote with a "secret" pass key that resets the cache and reboots the Roku device.  Good luck!
