Hi, I recently bought a Roku Plus Series 75 inch, and noticed that when watching live TV from a connected antenna, the screen will go dark and all audio stops. I have to turn it off and on in order to get the feed again. What's strange is that it shuts off at 30 minute intervals according to the time. So if I'm watching a 30 minute show at 7pm, the TV will go dark at 7:30 pm, and so forth. This is really strange, and annoying. It is not an auto power off timer, I checked those. It seems tied to the live TV app or guide itself. Can anyone help me with this, or have you experienced this? Thanks!

My Roku TV by TCL just recently began this problem. It simply stops playing and goes to a black screen after varied amounts of time. Usually it's about 50 minutes. The TV does not shut off, only black screen not playing anything. If I use the remote and tap the left arrow the guide displays immediately as normal. Selecting the same channel returns me to black screen. Choosing any othe channel shows that channel normally. It will then allow returning to previous channel. After several minutes the problem recurs. Have done system restart and software update. Have restarted modem and router. I use a wired connection and I have speeds in both directions over 500Mbps. Any ideas??? Thank you

I am having the exact same issue. I went on vacation for a week and now my tv is doing this. I have gone through all of the settings. I have unplugged my tv from the wall and I have powered off and on the tv. Nothing is working. Can someone please help us?

This issue seemed to appear right around the time of the latest software update on my TCL 43" TV; Software version: 14.6.4 Build: 9911 Updated 6/20/25 at 3:35 pm This happens while watching OTA/antenna broadcast channels via the "Live TV" channel guide (with the streaming channels disabled/hidden via system settings); At the end of each and every show being watched, the broadcast signal is seemingly "lost" - the screen goes blank/black, with no audio or video. This happens exactly at the very minute the program ends; if, say, it's a 1 hour show from 9:30 to 10:30, it'll happen exactly at 10:30 (plus a few seconds). If a half-hour show - say from 2:00 until 2:30 - it'll happen at exactly 2:30 (plus a few seconds). This occurs every time (every half-hour/hour), regardless of channel number and regardless of network being watched. If left alone (blank screen) for a few minutes, the screensaver will show up (floating analog clock, in my case). Switching to another channel and back again revives the lost broadcast channel, until the next half-hour/hour comes around and the TV just quietly goes completely blank, yet again. Over, and over, and over, and... 😠 Needless to say, this is a significant, pronounced and incredibly irritating bug. I have restarted/rebooted the TV numerous times via System Settings and the normal power button, cleared the cache (press Home 5 times, Up 1 time, etc.), checked for updates - to no avail. It seems abundantly clear that you folks should have enough proof here now to confirm there is an issue with the latest firmware update. When can we expect a fix for this issue?

Started going black, no sound a few days ago. Only happens on all Live TV antenna channels and repeats every 30 minutes on the dot, ie. 12:00 out, reset, 12:30, out, and so on all day. To get the channel back, I have to click to the next or previous channel, then click back to the one that went black. Then it repeats the blackout in 30 minutes.
Black screen lasts until you reset the channel.
Doesn't seem to happen on any streaming app.
Please, give us a fix.

In the last week, my Roku TV goes black when watching LiveTV Over the air. There is no audio or video. I have to click the Home button, and then the guide appears. About a month ago, the TV lost all Over The Air Channels, and the Roku forum helped solve that prior issue.

Finally, an update! From 14.6.4 build 9911 to 14.6.4 build 9914. Hopefully, this fixes the issue.

  Wow, my version is 14.5.4 build 5944, and it shows it checked this morning but hasn't updated since April. Manual check reports "All software is up to date".

Yes! The new update fixed my problem! It does not go black screen with no signal. Thank you Roku! Now if you can just fix all the issues with live TV lineup where you do not have so many steps to go through to access your favorite channels or return back to your favorite channels. If you have no clue what I'm talking about.. look it up! Or turn a TV on!

Press the Home button on your Roku remote

Go to Settings > System > Software update

Select Check Now to manually check for updates

I just watched a movie on channel 754. It froze up 3 times during the movie.

Checking for an update it showed it was up to date as of 30 minutes ago. Version 14.5.4 build 5944. Last system update was 06/22/2025.
Someone posted their version as 14.6.4 build 9114.
Do different TVs have different version and build numbers?
As others noted their versions and build dates did not change after selecting update. I will see tonight if the issue is fixed.
