TV shows that I purchased on Apple TV no longer autoplay next episde. Once the episode ends, it just goes back to the main menu. It's kind of a pain. It was working fine up until a couple days ago.
I've toggled every setting within Apple TV and Roku. Restarted the device and app. And uninstalled/reinstalled. Still nothing changes.
When I am on my ipad the autoplay feature still works fine. Which makes me think its something within Roku.
But I'm completely out of guesses. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. I actually did reach out and went through the entire troubleshooting process with them. They believe the issue is with the Roku device because the auotplay feature still works with my apple devices. I'm not sure what else to do.

Thanks for the follow- up, mjg781!
Make sure auto-play is ON. Follow the steps below:
- Press the Home button on your Roku remote.
- Scroll and Select Settings.
- Select Accessibility.
- Select Auto-play video.
- Choose ON.
Note: If the screen reader is turned on, the auto-play video setting will automatically turn off.
Tell us how it works for you.

Thanks. Yes, the autoplay feature is on for both the Roku device and Apple TV app. I've also did a system restart on the device and uninstalled/reinstalled the app just in case. Its really weird because it was working just fine until a couple days ago. I even bought the upgraded device (Ultra) just to see if that would fix the problem. But to no avail.

I have the same issue. It was working fine and then out of no where it doesn’t.
like you, works fine on my apple devices but not the app on Roku

Same thing happed on both of our ROKU ULTRAs. After episode ends, it bring you to the "continue watching" home screen and you have to manually start the next episode. ROKU says it's an apple issue, Apple says it's a ROKU issue. Deleted the apps and reinstalled. Restarted the roku multiple times. Setting have not changed. It's annoying and no one takes responsibility. Hopefully, it eventually gets fixed. Years ago, same thing started happening and eventually it returns to normal, but no one accepts responsibility for the issue.

This is happening for me as well, both on a Roku TV and my Roku stick. Just dumps me back on the Home Screen instead of queueing the next episode. Logged out and back in- same problem. Deleted and readied Apple TV app- same problem. Apple Support was not much help. Another person in the apple forum is having the same problem as well and replied to my post. Guess we need to make some noise. My Apple forum thread on the same problem.

Thanks for posting Jfcwhy and jerm7777
We appreciate the troubleshooting steps that you have tried to fix the issue with your Apple TV app that won't auto-play.
We'd like to know when this issue occurs, and could you send us a short video showing the issue occurring?
We're looking into it.

Edit for troubleshooting steps done: logged out and back into Apple account- no change. Restarted Roku TV- bi change. Deleted and re-added Apple TV app with a power cycle in between- no change. Tried different shows- same problem. Happening on both a Roku TV and a Roku streaming stick, both with Apple TV app installed.
For me, it happens on several different shows; the show is coming to an end, and instead of getting a next episode button with a little countdown timer, there is nothing. The episode just ends and I get dumped back on the Home Screen where I have to manually start the next episode(an issue aggravated by the Apple handles show selection on the Continue Watching row).
How do I send a video? It won't let me attach a .mp4 file here? I tried renaming as a .jpg(with he idea you'd revert to .mp4) but it is too big(actual: 13.4 MB; allowed: 3 MB)

Greetings, mjg781!
Thanks for trying those troubleshooting steps! For the app functionality, you might want to reach out to the app provider since each app on Roku is maintained by its developer.
You can contact them here: Apple TV

Same. Did it all, all the restarts, unplugs, auto play checked in Apple TV AND in ROKU. Not fixed. ROKU used to be so good!
What’s left? Factory reset? Stand on one foot with while turning counterclockwise?
- Jfcwhy3 months agoStreaming Star
I think what's left is to wait for either Apple or Roku to fix the issue. There is no guarantee a factory reset would fix it, and you'd lose all your settings. The mods here are at least responding to this thread. My post in the Apple forum had been ignored by Apple staff whose seemingly smug sense of superiority prevents them from even considering there may be a problem on their end.

Agreed. I typically don’t come here because the fix is never here and even when you say, I’ve done everything, the bot can’t understand that and, unplug it for 30 seconds is old and annoying. Haven’t had time to check the new ROKU TV yet.

Everything reported here is also happening on all of my Roku devices. I've also tried all of the troubleshooting steps that have been mentioned here.

I've noticed that Apple original programing such as Ted Lasso, Silo, etc have no problems auto playing. Third party purchased TV shows seem to be the issue.

Exact same thing started happening about a week ago. I’ve done everything that is possible to do and nothing has worked. It is definitely a Roku issue. It works fine on all my other devices. Roku is the only one that it is happening on. Please Roku take responsibility and fix

You are lucky My Apple TV app has completely stopped working.

I checked for software updates to no avail. Restarted the device three times and it seems to work now

I am having the same issue on my Roku devices with Apple TV purchased content. This also just started malfunctioning recently.
The only devices that continue to operate as expected with auto-play are my apple devices. Which makes me think there’s a bug somewhere in the latest update.
