My back button on my Roku is not working. It is not working on the remote that came with the Roku and it also doesn't work when I try to use the remote with my phone using the Roku app. All other buttons on the remote are working. I have already tried a system reset.
Today my Roku back button stop working so I tried the other Roku remotes and the back button doesn’t work either for any of the remotes I can’t go back or exit out a channel or movie

Same here, back button works on most Roku menus but not on channels. Tried two remotes and the iPad app. Light on the Roku ultra flashes when back button is pressed but will not backup as before.

Apple TV, Netflix and sling channels still seem to work.
Tablo, paramount Hulu and peacock don’t work

After pressing the Home button the back button works until navigation is moved to app region. It will remain disabled even after navigating using <^> Pressing Home will reenable back button and
When in an app and the back button has been mysteriously disabled via app region, pressing * for caption and audio settings will reenable back button.

Great find! Worked for me to restore back button for Hulu and HBO Max. Thank you for posting!!!
Back button stopped working after an unreadable message containing something about app region (single-line text box that spilled text off the left and right sides of the screen) appeared with no navigation options other than clicking "OK".

Same thing is happening to me, I have two TVs made by two different companies, but they’re both Roku’s systems, on one the back button works perfectly fine with both remotes, but if I try it on the other TV, the back button doesn’t work for either one.

Same here. Tried on Android official Roku remote app as well as a couple of Roku remotes, and back button isn't working on various apps on any device.

Ditto. The back button only works on certain menus (i.e. works in search, daily trivia, streaming store, settings, but not apps screen or featured free, intermittently in what to watch), doesn't work in some apps (i.e. works in Netflix, but not ABC News, etc.). The back button also doesn't work in the Roku android app. Tried pulling the remote's batteries, restarting the Roku from the menu, and physically pulling the power to restart, but nothing fixed the issue.

Yup. This just started for me this morning. I have about six Roku in different rooms. The back button is failing on all of them EXCEPT my new Roku Stick. All are running version 14.6. Glad to know if it is not just me. I had been setting up a new media server using JellyFin and was worried I had broken something.

Possible solution...
I got this from the Tablo forum. Do a complete power cycle; unplug the Roku for about 60 seconds and plug it back in again.
I haven’t yet tried all my devices yet, but a full power-down and restart seems to fix it..
