Streaming Stick 4K shows a black screen with Dolby Vision content.

I've been using a Streaming Stick 4K (3820R2) with a Hisense 55U8K for about a year with zero issues, until about two weeks ago. Lately, when I play Dolby Vision content on any app, the screen will go black (aside from the Dolby Vision logo) but sound will play normally. A restart sometimes fixes the issue, but it always returns, usually the second time I try playing Dolby Vision content after a restart. I've tried a factory reset of the Roku, switching HDMI ports on the TV, changing the order of the apps I use to play (to ensure it wasn't an app setting off the issue). Nothing seems to have worked. Plus, the built-in apps on the TV are playing Dolby Vision content without issue, so I don't think the TV is the problem either. I'm close to switching to an Apple TV, but wanted to check here first for fixes/workarounds.

Voice Remote Pro pulling up a “fake” Amazon Video upon using Headphone mode

I installed Amazon Video on my Roku for the first time and literally used it for under 60 seconds. Now, whenever I plug my headphones in to my remote, or try to adjust the volume whenever they’re in, it pulls up Amazon Video but it’s stuck on one frame and I can’t do anything, it’s almost like it’s a picture. I even uninstalled the app and it’s still doing it. I have tried repairing my remote and it did not fix it. It does not do this when I adjust my volume without them in.

Thank you! Roku's Live TV Channel Guide fix for Favorites.

Just a quick note of thanks to the developers/mantainers for Roku's Live TV channel guide fix! Apologies if this isn't in the right place but I couldn't find where I should drop this note of thanks. For those new or not familiar with what I am referencing, when starting the Live TV channel app, as before, it defaults to the last channel watched. However, instead of defaulting to All Channels as a category and having to scroll down to my Favorites every time I wanted to change channels, it now remains in my Favorites category. When one goes through the trouble of selecting only the channels they want to watch, this is significant. Again, thank you to the team that corrected this! -Jim

Stop adding stuff to my Home screen/menu/etc.

this has almost certainly been beaten to death in multiple threads on multiple topics. i don't care. this is my first post, and quite possibly my last. so: Roku: Stop Adding Unwanted To My Home Screen it seems like once every week or two, some nonsense i don't want to see and never asked for shows up on my home screen. last week it was "Recommendation rows." i don't want this. today it was a "Spiderwick Chronicles" item in my menu. i don't want this. every holiday, and every big "streaming release" day, something else is added to my home screen. i don't want this. sometimes there's some random low-rent on the bottom left of my home screen. i don't want this. stop doing this. stop giving me things i didn't ask for. stop force feeding me ads i don't want, for content i won't watch, then making it my job to disable it - when i'm even allowed. Roku: Knock It Off i'm annoyed to the point where i'm considering throwing all of my roku gear in the e-cycling bin. and get this: i have a handful of rokus i use every day, like a lot of your customers. i'm so frustrated with this bs that i'm considering switching to a Chromecast with Google TV, since they support most of the channels i subscribe to, and i can cast anything they don't support much, much easier from my computer. in fact i already bought one of those Google things. it's pretty okay. ROKU: STOP PUTTING STUFF ON MY HOME SCREEN. jesus christ. i don't know if this is the final straw or not, but i am frankly furious that roku is making roku advertisements for content i'm never going to watch my problem. and i'm tired. i want an opt-out option, and i want it yesterday. i pay for a number of subscription services; i'd pay a few bucks a month to not see your clumsy, ugly, intrusive, annoying ads and text and and and... on my home screen and in my menu. i bet a lot of people would. it's a win-win approach, and the fact that i can't turn this off is asinine and a missed opportunity for your company. roku has become anti-consumer, but roku isn't the only game in town. i still think it's the best game in town, but i am personally very quickly approaching the sheer edge of the cliff you're pushing me towards. ROKU. STOP. PUTTING. STUFF. ON. MY. HOME. SCREEN. NOW. give your customers a chance to give you some money instead of trying to get "all the money" from advertisers. the thing about that is at some point, you'll hit a critical mass of users defecting from your platform because of these minor annoyances piling up into major problems. what happens to your advertising dollars if your daily user counts diminish? i wonder! it's an unforced error, and it's death by a thousand cuts - except roku is ultimately cutting itself. if you lose someone who's been using your products for 15 years, someone who's used almost every generation of device you've ever produced, and someone who recommends to and purchases your products for other people, you've completely lost the thread. that someone is me by the way, in case it wasn't clear. ROKU: DO NOT PUT MORE OF YOUR JUNK ON MY HOME SCREEN. PLEASE, I AM BEGGING YOU. so: either knock it off or give me a reasonable option to purchase an ad-free premium service. i won't even get into the weeds of your company breaking muscle memory, which hurts user retention, which damages your brand, or how being constantly inundated with advertisements has exactly the opposite effect of what companies think, etc. but you guys are walking a very, very fine line here, and every single time i see one of these unwanted, obtrusive ads blasted into my eyes when i go to watch a youtube video, i'm adding another notch to the post. there's only enough room for a couple more notches, maybe. get it together or i'm leaving for what i know is a worse option. it's not me, it's you.

    Bluetooth headphone volume doesn’t work.

Roku ultra, 3m worktunes. Volume does not adjust, it appear to as I use the volume control, then just reverts to a fixed extremely loud. From previous now closed forum discussions this is still not resolved after 2 years? Wish I’d seen that post before buying the ultra specifically upgrading from the lite for the Bluetooth headphones for use with my 3m worktunes. It comes through extremely loud no matter the setting, my ears are still ringing. Sort it out before you damage somebodies hearing.

Roku TV screen appears too dim even on “Brighter” setting

Hi, I’m experiencing a display issue with my Roku TV. When I turn it on, the screen is not black, but the image appears very dim and hard to see properly. It’s like the brightness is low, but I’ve already set it to the “Brighter” option in the settings. The TV works fine otherwise—apps open, sound is working, and I can see the menus—but the screen remains darker than normal and it’s difficult to view content comfortably. Has anyone had a similar issue or know how to fix it? Thanks!

Cannot use LG Magic remote with Roku Ultra

Hi there, I bought a Roku Ultra 4850R (says on the box), 4850X (says on the bottom of the device). I have an LG OLED 65B1 with a Magic Remote. The LG remote cannot control the Roku via CEC no matter what I tried. It only works in direct IR sight to the Roku. Troubleshooting: Restarting both devices, enabling and disablig SimpliLink (CEC) on the tv, deleted the Universal Control Settings and went through the process by selecting the automatically discovered OTT device called "Roku", manually selected OTT, searched for roku then tried manually entering the device code -> all 3 available options: 4850R, 4850X, 4850RW; manually selected Set Top Box and Roku, selected the Roku Advanced Settings -> Network permissions -> Allowed or Permissive. The HDMI cable used is the one found in the Roku Box. CEC setup doesn't work from the Roku Remote settings either -> the music doesn't stop. IR set-up works. What other options can I try?

Model Variants for the Ultra player

Does anyone know the different between the 4850X and the 4850R? I do know that Roku uses some suffixes after the “R” or “X” to ID various distribution channels, such as RO or ROC, etc. I called tech support on two different occasions and received two different answers. One person said there was no difference, and the other went off line to research it with her team leader and came back and said the “R” variant is newer. I have two 4850s. The web (Roku online store) description said 4850R, the PO said 4850R, the outside box said 4850R, but both devices are 4850X. I just shake my head over the sloppy and lack of documentation. What a way to run a railroad !

Roku cannot display italic font or emojis

I own a 2024 Roku Ultra and noticed for a long time that the whole OS cannot display emojis in any app. I noticed this with my Spotify and YouTube playlists, for example. And today I finally had enough of this issue, and wanted to report it. As you can see in the following photos Roku is unable to display emojis properly: My NVIDIA Shield Pro has no problem displaying emojis properly. See following photos using the Spotify app on my NVIDIA Shield Pro: < replacement for Karma in italic font) Please don’t even start asking for the unnecessary OS version and this and that. It’s irrelevant and my system is up to date. Check this on YOUR end to confirm. The same is happening with the YouTube app and any other app. Roku is unable to display italic font and emojis properly, using colors and the actual emojis. It’s possible that it also can’t display other fonts. Please FIX THIS.

Roku 43" select 4k TV dimensions between the feet/legs

I have the answers I need thank I no longer need feedback and have no odea how to close this thread - Thank you all for your help. I am looking to purchase a Roku 43" 4K Tv - I know the feet/legs are not adjustable. I also know the distance between the feet/legs is around 37" when installed "correctly". If i install the feel backwards what would the dimensions be between the feet/legs? I am asking because my bed room dresser is only 33 inches wide - I cannot mount it on the wall - no space because the dresser is in the bedroom corner.
