Unable to save changes on Backdrops

Same problem with my Roku's. I remove items from My Favorites or clear My Favorites but when I re-launch Backdrops or reboot the Roku, all the items are back again. Can't get rid of them.

    Hey there, scottkeen.

We understand that you're experiencing the same issues with backdrops, and we're here to investigate further.

By the way, we'd like to know if this happens after an update?

    Please keep us posted!

Same problem if I update My Favorites, clear My Favorites, even uninstall the Backdrops app then reboot the Roku then reinstall the Backdrops app. I can't get rid of the existing Backdrops images in My Favorites!

But... maybe I have some useful information for your development team:

My Favorites is stuck with the same 55 images that I added to My Favorites about 6 months ago. No matter what I do, I cannot permanently get rid of them out of My Favorites, they keep coming back. BUT... if I add a new image to My Favorites, my image count goes up to 56 images as expected. And if I delete that newly added image and exit Backdrops and launch it again, that newly added image does not re-appear and I have the same 55 images. So new images appear to work with add/delete from My Favorites. It's the old images that don't.

So, it may have something to do with images that were added to My Favorites 6 months ago. Perhaps it has something to do with an index key or unique identifier that is no longer valid, and the Backdrops program cannot find the old image in the database to enable/disable flags for the image.

I dunno, just guessing and trying to help troubleshoot this as a developer myself.

        Hey, scottkeen.

Just a follow-up. We'd like to know if you're still experiencing the issue so we can take a closer look.

We hope to hear from you soon!

  • Question for all of you who are experiencing this issue - Do you have or did you ever have Google Photos connected to your Backdrops app?  I was exploring workarounds and noticed the issue seemed to start for me AFTER I connected Google Photos.  Unfortunately, the issue persists even after I disconnected Google Photos from my systems\account.

  • I chose 100 images from the artist collection as My Favorites — no problem. But when I tried to change the images by deleting some and replacing them, Backdrops reverted back to my original 100 choices the next time it came on.

I tried again, same thing. I even tried “clear all” 100 to completely start over, but the original 100 choices kept returning, even after updates and restarts.

      Hey, Poofyloopy.

We've noticed that you're unable to save changes to favorites on Backdrops, and we're here to take a look.

Can you share some details here so we can pass them on to the right team?

      • Roku device model, Device ID, Serial Number, and Software version (It can be found in Settings > System > About)
      • Tracker ID (Press Home five times, then press Back button five times, when the issue occurs)
      • Backdrops App build version (Highlight the app from the Home Screen and press the Star * Button)

Looking forward to hearing back from you!

I sent the information you requested (Device ID, Build #, Tracker ID) and I wondered if you received it? If not I’ll be glad to resend.
