I purchased my Roku Ultra 4802X about 6 months ago. Everything worked great until about a month ago and the Roku started dropping the wifi connection. I tried reinstalling the channels, I tried moving the Roku closer to the modem, and eventually as a last resort I did a hard reset and it did nothing. I believe the Roku has become defective as I have never had any other problems with my other streaming devices such as the Amazon fire stick and even the smarts tv that we use the Roku with. If there’s any other suggestions someone could give me that would be great, but if it is defective then I will never be purchasing a Roku again as I couldn’t even get technical support assistance because when I typed my model in for tech support they said their was none available for that device which seems odd being as it’s one of their latest devices..anyways, any device would be great.
I never received an error code but I figured out the problem and I think Roku needs to know about it. I had 2 other Roku ultra remotes paired to both boxes and when I disconnected the other 2 remotes it stopped the wifi from disconnecting and no more crashes as a result of the wifi disconnecting. This seems like a software issue as I can’t see what else would cause the Roku Ultra to drop wifi if there's to many remotes pair to the Roku.
Sorry I meant to say I tried reinstalling the apps but it doesn’t seem to allow me to reedit the post. *Disregard this message, the edit button was missing for some reason when I tried the first time*
I’ve bought a second box after the first one was still dropping connection and I am still experiencing wifi drops while nothing else is dropping wifi. This is ridiculous.
Hi @DoovenJohn,
Greetings from the Roku Community!
We're glad to assist you with your problem connecting your Roku Ultra to your Wi-Fi network. What error message or code are you getting after trying to reconnect to your network? Please try to restart your modem and router by unplugging them from the wall outlet for a minute and plugging them back in right after. This will help clear the cache, improve internet speeds, and fix your connectivity issues.
Let us know how it goes, and we'll be glad to further assist you.
Kind regards,
Eunice
