Roku can’t locate network

My roku Express streaming device is able to view the list of networks for wifi, but can not find my specific network. It is placed literally on top of the router. All other devices in the house can connect to the internet on our wifi fine. An identical model is in another location and works just fine. It is able to connect to other networks such as a hot spot. It just can’t locate my wifi network.

Re: Roku can’t locate network

Hello! @Aaron5,

Thanks for posting here in the Roku Community!

We appreciate your contacting us regarding your Roku Express not connecting to your network. We are glad to help.

If you are comfortable working with your networking equipment, you can make adjustments to your wireless router which may help your Roku device and remote perform better. You may need to use your computer or mobile device to sign in to an admin tool on your router. For further assistance, you can contact your internet provider.

Some recent router updates have turned off dual-band routers' use of the 2.4 GHz band. Some Roku models, notably Roku Express/Express+ (model numbers below 3940) and Premiere/Premiere+ (model numbers below 4620) are lower-end units with single-band Wi-Fi radios that only support the 2.4 GHz band. They, and many other devices of all sorts that are 2.4 GHz only, can't even see the 5 GHz band, let alone connect to it. If you have a 2.4 GHz only Roku model and a dual-band router with both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, be sure the router's 2.4 GHz band is turned on.

Learn about advanced networking features on your Roku streaming device here.

Thanks,
Arjiemar

Re: Roku can’t locate network

@RokuArjiemar , so I went to the advanced wifi settings, but it appears that it is already on 2.4GHz for this device. My other working Roku is the same GHz

Re: Roku can’t locate network

@Aaron5-

Here's another possibility for you to check.

WIFI CHANNELS 12-14
In the 2.4 GHz WiFi band, all Rokus support channels 1-11, as are used in North America. If your router supports 2.4 GHz channels 12-14 that are used in other regions make sure your router is set to use a channel in the 1-11 range and that you aren't using an auto setting that could select channels outside this range.
