This is still happening to me. I have 5 seconds to log into DIRECT-roku before it disappears. Most of the time it just auto connects to the hotel wifi with no connection. The closest I got was the loading page to login to the hotel wifi before it disappears again. If they haven't fixed it in nearly 3 years, they never will. Save yourself the frustration, don't bother buying
@Firestickuser it works just fine for me. Make sure you've enabled Device Connect under the Settings/System menu, as that's required for it to work. Also, I've had trouble in the past using an iPad as the device to use to authenticate, while my Windows laptop worked every time. That said, over the past year or so I haven't had issues using the iPad either.
