Error code 014.40 on Roku TV with excellent signal

Jump to solution

I can't get my TV to connect to wireless Internet.  I've tried resetting it, entering the password, restarting, unplugging and nothing works.  It's also saying I have a guest wifi which I do not have.  I use Verizon for Internet service with my own router.  Has anyone had this happen?  It's been 2 days and it won't connect.  Very frustrating.

I would start by first restarting both the Verizon gateway and your own router. (assuming you are using both the Verizon router and your own).  Then perform a Network Connection Reset on the RokuTV. (Settings/System/Advanced System Settings/Network Connection Reset/Reset Connection)

If still a no-go, try changing the SSID name (network name) of your router and also the password to something simple (don't use special characters when troubleshooting, just numbers and/or letters).

The error 14.40 is generally a password error, so for some reason the Roku is having trouble authenticating with your router.

Feel free to post back if still having issues.  Include the Verizon gateway model number (if applicable) and the model number of your router.

Thank you.  I tried all of that, to no avail.  Know what worked?  Hitting the reset button on the back of the Roku TV.  Lol.  Who knew?

I appreciate the help.  Some good steps to keep for future use. 🌞
