How about a Roku premium subscription to eliminate ads in UI and to increase channel grid size? A minimum 3x5 grid size would be nice and 4x6 would be even better. The ~3.5x3 is such a waste of space, and seems clearly intended to save room for ads.
I’m sure only a small percentage of Roku users would pay, but I’m also sure the ad revenue per person per year is not that much. As long as it isn’t ridiculously priced (like TiVo), Roku can probably do better than they would by serving ads to everyone.
I would not mind paying for Roku Premium Subscription to Eliminate UI Ads. I never watch Roku channels for that reason.
So the recent Roku update takes it to ~4.5 rows by 4 columns, by making the icons smaller. This is so much better!! There was absolutely no reduction in the size or number of ads, but I guess I'll be grateful.
