Re: Channel request: Adding RFD-TV to Roku

Thank you for letting me know about this.

However, there are some very serious problems with their APP.

In order to see ANY content, you have to sign in.

The default is to sign in with your Roku username and password.

This DOES NOT WORK.

I've exchanged E-mail with RFDtv, and they also called me to

walk me through the login process, and confirmed that signing

up with a Roku account is not possible.

Creating your own account also did not work for me. The person

who called me didn't explain why, but I have deduced that it's

because there are two boxes to check, one for "allow marketing information"

and "agree to terms of service". I never checked the first one, only the

second. After that, the account creation process just sits there. There

is NO warning that you have to allow marketing information to be

collected before or after trying to confirm the application.

The person that called offered to create an account for me, but

required credit card information. NOWHERE on the RFDtv page,

or in the Roku APP, or during the sign-in or account creation

process is there a warning that ALL content is now pay only.

They are, of course, entitled to do this if they choose, but there

should be a warning before creating an account.

Finally, there is a problem this App has that is more common than

it should be. When you type in your password, it gets blanked out

with asterisks. This is a very outdated concept. How often when

you are creating an account on your TV is someone looking over

your shoulder when you enter it? And if there is someone, can't

they see what you're entering as you do it? At the very least,

the user should be given the choice of seeing the entire password

as it's typed in to reduce the possibility of entering it incorrectly.

Roku should make this a requirement for all apps that need a

password in order for them to be added to the Roku roster of apps.

I am deeply disappointed with the RFDtv app and process.

Re: Channel request: Adding RFD-TV to Roku

Hi @BartZLederman,

Thanks for sharing your input here at the Roku Community!

We regret any difficulties this may have caused you. Since this is an isolated case of the RFD-TV Now app/channel, we highly recommend reaching out to their customer support team for further advice. Moreover, please be aware that most apps/channels on the Roku platform are being created, provided, and maintained by the channel providers themselves.

If there's anything else we can be of assistance with aside from this, please don't hesitate to let us know and we'd be more than willing to listen and take immediate action as your satisfaction is what we aim for.

Kind regards,
Carly

Re: Channel request: Adding RFD-TV to Roku

I experienced the same thing...cannot accomplish it.  I went through all the same steps with the same results.  I am unable to set up RFD-TV on my Roku.  We've watched RFD-TV for years on DISH.  Switched to streaming services for watching TV and can no longer watch one of our favorite channels.

Re: Channel request: Adding RFD-TV to Roku

Are you trying to add it as a separate APP./Channel?

It is available through Sling.  I think it has to be a la carte, not part of an Orange or Blue package, because it has it's own subscription fee.  So if you already have Sling, try adding RFD TV there.  If you don't have Sling, maybe you can subscribe to Sling just for RFD TV.  You will have to ask Slng, Roku doesn't answer questions about channel providers.

This is not isolated. The same thing just happened to me.  Very frustrating. ☹️
