Allow Optical and Soundbar audio outputs to work simultaneously
We recently got a Roku Soundbar to work with our 65" TCL Roku TV. The soundbar works well and we appreciate the simplicity of controlling it from the Roku remote. However, we do have one little niggle:
My wife has a cochlear implant, and uses a streaming device (attached to the optical audio output) to stream directly to her cochlear processor, which is the clearest way to get sound to her. In the past this worked well, because the TV speakers and the optical audio output are active at the same time. However, with addition of the soundbar, the optical audio is turned off, so we have to choose either optical audio (better for her processor) or soundbar (essential for me). This is not ideal for any household mixing hearing and cochlear implanted members.
It would be far nicer if the soundbar audio output worked like the internal speaker output, and allowed both optical and soundbar outputs to be active at the same time. Or, if you wanted a more generalized solution, you could have the optical output able to be activated as a separate control from the other sound outputs.
Please consider this for upcoming software updates. Thanks.
