I have an old SD-only satellite receiver, as well as a laserdisc player, that each output letterboxed video within a 4:3 frame, for which the Roku TV's "Zoom" picture-size option is helpful to eliminate black bars on all four sides without distorting the image.
However, compared to similar features on most other televisions, Zoom is quite aggressive in how much it cuts off, resulting in significant loss of image content at the top and bottom of the letterbox frame, and also truncation of the satellite receiver's displayed menus.
Could the degree of clipping be made adjustable? Or, as a simpler approach, maybe offer separate Zoom1 and Zoom2 options, as on some other types of TV? Responding dynamically to the actual number of blank scanlines would be ideal, but that might be more involved than you want to take on.
I've tested this on both TCL and Hisense brand Roku TVs, and the degree of clipping is identical across both, so it appears to be controlled by the shared Roku OS rather than any manufacturer-specific code.
Thanks for your consideration.
