What temp should it be running at?

Jump to solution

How hot (as in a temperature) should my Roku Express 4K get? I had an old unit overheat and now I want to know when I should be worried when I check the secret screen.

Thanks for posting here in the Roku Community, @NB3193!

We appreciate you reporting this issue and would like to look into it closely. Can you please let us know when the problem occurred? Additionally, could you please let us know if there's an error message on the TV screen or a red light on your Roku device?

We also recommend trying the following steps to see if they make any difference:

  1. Carefully unplug the power cable from your Roku player and allow it to cool down.
  2. Find a cooler location for your Roku player; avoid placing the unit:
    1. Inside a cabinet or other closed space;
    2. On top of other electronic devices such as cable boxes, routers, or audio/video receivers;
    3. In direct sunlight.
  3. Wait at least 10 minutes for your Roku player to cool down. Once cooled, plug the power cable back in and wait for the Roku player to power on. If you still see the above message or the Roku player shows a SOLID RED LIGHT, immediately unplug the power cable.
  4. Repeat step 3 one more time. If the problem persists, then you should stop using your Roku player.

We would recommend trying to see if that resolves your issue. Please keep us posted.

Best regards,
