Re: YouTube is not working on TV

Jump to solution

I am having the same problem. I have reset, restarted everything. Mine stopped working Friday evening. I took the app off, reloaded it. Watched YouTube videos on what to do, tried everything suggested.

I can scroll through YouTube and pick a video, but it plays for about a minute, then stops. I can also watch YouTube on my phone and computer and it works fine there.

I have been having the same problem. Which is so weird. I even tried to cast on my phone but wouldn't work. Surprisingly using guest I can watch it without buffering but I have YouTube Premium on my account and with Guest I have ads again which defeats the purpose for me. I don't know why this is happening either and I did all the steps too. I hope it gets fixed soon cause it can barely go a minute without buffering and stopping.

Re: Youtube lagging - unwatchable

No, use your yt profile on your phone where all your favorites and stuff are saved.  But in the TV yt app, log out and open that in guest mode.

Then connect to your tv roku device from your phone and play videos from your phone profile on your tv.  I hope that makes sense and will work for you.

Same problem here, constant buffering Roku streaming device only. Works on the computer or my phone just fine. Internet is fast and stable and I've gone through all the procedures of rebooting and deleting cache still unwatchable.

I am using YouTube premium and have The same issues constant buffering on YouTube only and only on streaming devices not on my phone or computer. I believe you two may have updated something recently? I have a Roku premier and the website says my device doesn't qualify for tech support. So I'm not sure what to do short of canceling my subscription.

Just chatted with YouTube:

"I've checked this further and found out that we received similar reports regarding playing videos on TVs.

Our specialists and app engineers are currently working on a fix tirelessly for this to be resolved as soon as possible."

Same here, started yesterday and have reset modem, reset router, reinstalled router and wireless network, unplugged and restarted everything with no solution. Video plays for 30 seconds then buffers briefly and freezes.

This happens on all Roku devices, did not happen on phone. Switching to Guest user on YouTube app works but I'm a premium subscriber and hate the commercials.

I hope this gets fixed asap cause I pretty much only watch YouTube nowadays.

I have discerned it’s a YouTube PREMIUM issue. I just signed up for a free trial and really liked it. Until now. I cancelled it, but it’s still active until August 6! I don’t want it anymore. I can watch videos uninterrupted on a “guest” account, but all my subscriptions aren’t available there. I’m sad!
