Just got a new roku 4k streaming stick - tv is not 4k, it's an insignio 32", a couple years old, but that's not the issue. Installed & loaded new roku without any issues, but the image only covers the center 2/3 of the available tv screen - looks compressed, and there is about 3" blank space on either side of the image. Regular TV (w/o ruku) fills the entire screen.
How do I fix this so when I use roku, it too fills the entire screen. I find no settings to fix this. 😞
The setting would be within your TV. Look for something called Zoom, or Picture Size, or Aspect Ratio or anything related to "display". There's probably a button on the remote.
As I mentioned, regular tv is fine… the settings on the TV are already set for full view. The issue is only when in Roku. 🤷♀️
Some TVs keep a separate setting for each input, so it may not mean anything that regular TV is fine. Other than setting the "Display type" to the options other than "Auto" there isn't anything else within the Roku settings that would affect this
Maybe try a different HDMI cable? I've also seen weird issues cleared up by unplugging the power from the TV for several minutes.
Thanks to both the replies above. Perhaps it is the aspect ratio setting, or the cable, but I'm using the cable roku provided. Will update once I recheck it. Thanks.
Hi, I wanted to update you… I swapped the TV I was using for one that I think is a bit newer, and problem is resolved. The image fills the entire screen. 👍 So I think it was just that TV. Appreciate everyone’s help. Thanks!
