Recently (past month or so), my Roku Express 4K HDMI (2 years old?) produces a crackling and popping sound instead of audio after appearing to timeout from Roku app (typically CNN). This may be correlated with a bit higher temperatures in summer (low 80F). I've tried changing the orientation for cooling but still happens. The video is fine. Firmware version is currently 13.0.0 (checks daily and indicated most recent). Power cycling/rebooting fixes the problem until next time (typically once a day).

Mines don’t work
Same popping noise with my 2024 Roku Ultra. Using eARC cable. Tried all the things here, plus changed out several cables. Sometimes it requires unplugging receiver for 15 seconds to get any sound back. I’m back to using my 2022 Roku Ultra now, since it never had these popping and loss of sound issues. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hi, @mark1city.
Thanks for posting here in the Roku Community!
We understand that you're also having problems with the audio on your Roku Ultra and we'd like to help.
Could you please let us know if you have tested the device on another TV? If you haven't, doing so would help us determine whether the issue lies with the TV speakers or the device itself.
Please keep us posted.
All the best,
Emman
Thank you for your reply, Emman!
Sorry, don't have another TV that I could test it on. Our Roku Ultra is connected to a Samsung TV, and the TV is connected to a Yamaha receiver via an eARC cable, and the sound is then sent to the receiver's 5 speakers.
The popping problem started when the 2022 model was switched out for the new 2024 model. Sent it back to Amazon and the second 2024 unit did the same thing. So we're back using the 2022 model.
Thank you again!
