I have been using the ROKU Stick on my "non-smart TV" for several years, and I cannot remember since paying ROKU for this amount of time ever being able to open a ROKU Channel movie or show, without it going right back to the movie's main page!!
It tries to open, circles around a bit, then bam, right back to the movie main page .. ALL movies every one on ROKU Channel!! All other applications and programs on other networks, Netflix, Hulu, Paramount, Disney, etc. work as usual!
ROKU users have been posting this problem as far as I can tell since May of 2024, but it has been going on for far longer than that date for me. I already gave up on that channel, since non of the moderators response indicates any hope of getting this fixed!
Others seem to get it working partially until a commercial pops up, then back to the main screen .. I was not even that lucky to EVER get it to open and play ANYTHING from this channel! Maybe I should just stop paying them if it does not seem to be a priority on their list remediate this problem for most or many users!

@ZoltanGZ There is no charge to activate a Roku device and no charge for the Roku Channel. I don't know who you are paying but it is not Roku for the Roku Channel. You may be paying Roku for subscriptions to Netflix, Hulu, etc... but not for the Roku Channel
Yes, you are right ...my mistake .. I am paying for CBS and Pandora access through ROKU and to ROKU to get access to these. Others like HULU, Paramount+ and Disney and others are payed to those directly through PayPal.
In either case, having payed for the ROKU Stick and having ROKU channels with umpteen films and shows and having no access to them because of some ROKU fault does not make me a happy camper. Evidently they have been having this problem for years and with hundreds of complaints from other posters and they haven't done a thing about it to solve the problem.
All the so called solutions they gave up to now has not solved or cured the lack of access to their 'so called' freebie shows!!

@ZoltanGZ, where are you located? Problems with The Roku Channel can often be traced to a problem with the assignment of the user's Roku account to the wrong region. It can be caused by a user intentionally or unintentionally setting up a Roku account in one region and trying to use a Roku device in a different region. Another cause is using a VPN which isn't supported.
