Still not working for me
Like the other users I am having this problem (can try to start PBS app on Roku but it doesn't turn on) even after updating the PBS app and deleting and reinstalling it. I also tried doing a restart of the Roku Ultra but that didn't help. In addition, I unplugged my TCL Roku TV and the replugged it in, but that did'nt resolve the issue.
I can run PBS on my PC on the same router as my TCL Roku tv and Ultra Roku box. No sites are blacklisted on my router.
All other app on my Rokus work fine.
In addition to not being able to run the PBS app on either Roku device, when I search my Roku Ultra for the PBS app it isn't in the menu so I try reinstalling it. I can search and find the PBS app but it doesn't run NOR does it stay in the Roku Ultra menu.
Here is the device info for my Roku units:
The device is a TCL Roku TV model 50S423
I contacted tech support at PBS because the PBS app would not work and bounce back to the Home Screen. I decided to try again before going to bed. PBS sent me a new activation code. It now works just fine! Problem solved. Write to PBS tech support if you are still having issues!
I contacted pbs tech support. They sent an email with a support ticket. I gave it one last try tonight and voila! PBS sent me a new activation code. It works again!

I just did that! They sent me a new activation code and everything is back to normal. Yay!
As of early morning 6:30am 11/18/24 it’s working. I was able to activate my Roku after trying all the steps (deleting app, reinstalling, checking firewall for restrictions, etc.).
I had put in a ticket with PBS over the weekend, but haven’t heard back, since it’s still super early on Monday.
I am currently watching content inside the app.
So, try it again.
