As many others I have a frustrating problem. My Roku streaming stick 4k (model 3810x) began to reboot on a loop this morning. Unplugged it from wall and left it alone for the day. Came back to it at night to no avail. It reboots over and again.
-I have plugged it into another outlet
-I have plugged the device into a different HDMI port
-It never gets to home screen so going into settings page is not an option
Is my device damaged? I get the overheat message once in awhile but not lately.
Is my device's connection dirty?
Looks like there are newer models on the market. If it's a simple fix I'm all for it but if it went kaput because of planned obsolescence well that sucks.
Thanks in advance for all helpful responses.
Try a different USB power adapter/charger from a phone or tablet that can provide at least 1 Amp. If that doesn't work, about the only thing left is a factory reset. With the power connected, press and hold the reset button for a good 30 seconds.
Same issue here.
steps taken:
same plug, same supply, same hdmi - boot loop and eventual recovery screen
different plug, same supply, same hdmi - no change
same plug. different supply, same hdmi - no change
different plug, different supply, same hdmi - no change
different plug, same supply, different hdmi - no change
same plug, same supply, different hdmi - no change
same plug, different supply, different hdmi - no change
different plug, different supply, different hdmi - no change
all of the above with a diffrent usb mini - no change.
reset button - no change
reset from rescue menu - no change
re-apply update from rescue menu - no change ( wifi is rock solid)
model: 3810x
version 50F.04E12221A
intended next steps: put it in the freezer and repeat above. (I live in a desert, condensation not an issue). Disable all firewall filters and geo-blocks and retest. with "all different" config.
Note Roku ultra on other TV not exhibiting same behavior.
tested with router *nearly wide open; no change in result.
UPDATE SYSTEM:
from recovery menu, I select my language, enter wifi info, and select update. download progresses and
device reboots to loop. no errors observed.
FACTORY RESET:
from recovery menu, i select my language, enter wifi info, and select factory reset. device seemingly hangs. remote becomes unresponsive and will not pair when re-pair initiated with button under battery cover.
note:
Every time i get to the recovery menu--about four to 5 loops (jumping logo) --I must re-pair the remote prior to navigating the recovery menu

At the direction of official customer support (i died a little inside, but good experience overall)
I rebooted the device and then I pressed and held the reset button for 10 seconds each time, 7 times with less than 3 seconds in between. I was then brought to the OoB screen and did the 10x7 again.
No details were provided as to what this does exactly, but i assume its like the old 30/30/30 on wrt routers.
