Re: Lost All Antenna Channels

Jump to solution

I have also lost the ability to scan for local tv channel. I've tried 3 different roku devices but TV input is not on either of them.  It's Only on the actual roku tv itself. I operate with antennas because cable is too expensive. I would like the opportunity to get my free local channels again on all of my devices. I have 4 or 5. Thank you.

@Aurialove03 It sounds like you want to use a Roku device to connect an antenna.  No streaming device from any company has the capability of using an antenna.  You can get your free local channels on any TV that the Roku device is connected to.  Just connect your antenna to the TV and change the TV input to the antenna input.  If you have a TV with a Roku interface you can connect an antenna to the TV and put the antenna input on your Roku home page.  You can even have a Roku TV open to the antenna input by going to settings, system, power, and selecting power on to be the antenna input.

Re: Live tv over the air stations have disappeared

Nadee K. Roku Community Moderator,

I have had no changes in location and use an HDTV antenna to get my local channels. I have no problem getting the local channels with any of my 3 TVs that do not have internet connectivity or cable. However, on my TCL Roku TV, after running the Roku procedure to 'Scan Antenna Channels' is finished, and 14 channels are found, I click on the 'Watch Live Channels' icon (which is the only possible choice to see Live TV) I am taken to Live TV and none of the 14 channels are available.

I used to have the choice of 'Antenna' channels but now only see the 'Streaming' channels by Roku. I only have Internet, so no Cable TV companies are involved. Please provide everyone a fix as to how they can once again see their Local channels that are not streamed. Local channels that are streamed end up only showing what they want and replay those all during the day.

Thank you in advance for your prompt assistance.

I have found the Roku TV software glitch that prevents Antenna TV stations from displaying.  Roku TV software needs to be updated so that it displays broadcast TV with the click of a mouse from the Home Page, LIKE IT USED TO.

I have a TCL Roku TV that I use to watch Svengoolie.  On the Home Page there used to be an icon of a TV screen that had what looks like Morse code (https://tinyurl.com/mr27c72t).  Roku recently updated their software that changed the icon so that it has what looks like an antenna on top (https://www.roku.com/blog/live-tv-zone), but unfortunately, when I select it, it only lists Streamed TV icons and does not list ANY broadcast channels.

I set up a chat with Roku but when I told them that the new icon no longer displayed the broadcast stations but they didn't seem to know what I was talking about.  They told me that there was no way that I could get the old icon back and to instead choose the new icon.

When I Googled ROKU TV ANTENNA CHANNELS MISSING I found that a number of people are having the same problem.  While everyone is complaining online, Roku claims to not be aware of any problem.

While there is a way to get broadcast TV channels it involves a somewhat awkward 7-step process:
  • From the Home Page, choose SETTINGS.
  • Choose TV INPUTS
  • Choose LIVE TV (with the Morse code icon)
  • Choose MANAGE CHANNELS
  • Choose MANAGE ALL CHANNELS (with Morse code icon). This displays a random internet + broadcast station that is on.
  • Press left arrow next to "OK" button on remote.  This displays the Streamed + Broadcast channel guide.
  • Scroll up to the numbered broadcast Antenna TV station category over the Streaming TV category.

Of course, this is more involved than clicking on an icon that takes you directly to broadcast TV on the Home Page.

To Find Antenna TV Channels

Jump to solution
  • From the Home Page, choose SETTINGS.
  • Choose TV INPUTS
  • Choose LIVE TV (should be an icon that looks like Morse code -- see image)
  • Choose MANAGE CHANNELS
  • Choose MANAGE ALL CHANNELS
  • Press left arrow which is next to the "OK" button on remote.  This takes you to the channel guide.
  • Scroll UP to see the Antenna TV station category with all your numbered stations.  It is located above the list of streaming stations.

The DIFFERENCE between the channel guide if you take THIS route, and the channel guide that you can choose from Roku's home screen, is that THIS channel guide shows antenna stations and the other one does not.

Re: Lost All Antenna Channels

Thank you for your suggested fix, VernonF. However, your 7 step process to get broadcast TV channels (shown below) does not work on my TCL Roku TV. After getting to step 7, I do not have an 'Antenna TV Station' category. I only get 'Favorite Channels' and 'Edit Managed Channesl'. I have to select 'Edit Managed Channels' then scroll up until the digital channels are shown. I check the box for each of my digital antenna channels. If I wait more than 5 seconds to check a channel box Roku gets rid of the managed channel screen leaving you with the last channel you had checked. Scrolling up or down leaves you from that antenna channel taking you to the 'All Channels' section. Again, Roku hasn't helped with anyone's requests. I just keep asking Roki to please just update the program bringing back our choice of selecting digital antenna TV channels easily.
1. From the Home Page, choose SETTINGS.
2. Choose TV INPUTS
3. Choose LIVE TV (with the Morse code icon)
4. Choose MANAGE CHANNELS
5. Choose MANAGE ALL CHANNELS (with Morse code icon). This displays a random internet + broadcast station that is on.
6. Press left arrow next to "OK" button on remote. This displays the Streamed + Broadcast channel guide.
7. Scroll up to the numbered broadcast Antenna TV station category over the Streaming TV category.

Hello Quiet General.

I should have said for step 6, you need to press the left arrow (next to the "OK" button) TWO times in a row.  In other words, when you see the "'Favorite Channels' and 'Edit Managed Channels'" screen, just press the left arrow button again.  At that point you'll be on the channel guide and hopefully you will then be able to scroll up and see your antenna stations.

Good luck and let me know how it goes!

Sincerely,

Vernon F.
