IPTV app won’t load after working good for months

i use iptv pro and it was working fine for 6 months. Now I can’t load it at all. I tried Smarters, a much better app, and same thing is happening. Some at least load but I’m not going to pay for them just to have them quit. Any ideas? I have the streambar, ultra and express plus. Using streambar in this problem

Thanks for posting, and welcome to the Roku Community.

We appreciate you for sharing with us your concern about the IPTV app on your Roku device, and we're here to assist. We recommend following the troubleshooting steps below to resolve the problem at hand.

    1. Navigate to the channel tile on the Roku home screen, press the star (*) key on your remote, and choose "Remove channel".
    2. Next, restart your device from Settings > System > Power > System Restart (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step).
    3. Once your player/TV starts up again, go to "Streaming Store" on the Home screen, and add the channel back once more.

If the issue persists after performing the provided troubleshooting step, you may want to contact the channel provider's support directly and inquire further about this issue. They can provide a workaround or there might be a need to update their app on the Roku platform since most channels on the Roku platform are designed and maintained by the channel providers themselves.

I fixed it by changing the screen resolution from 4k to 1080p and the iptv pro app opened.

  • Just change the screen resolution on Roku from 4K to 1080p... for some reason it will make IPTV app work again... and you don't lose quality in screen resolution

  • Im getting the same problem. I've got 2 streaming sticks but only have the problem on one stick strangely, even though they are both running the same version of software.

Pro IPTV is a paid for app which is linked to the device MAC address so I can't move it and now it's unusable.

I tried the free trial version of Smarters and that doesn't want to open either.

I spent a bunch of time on the Roku chat going thru every troubleshooting idea multiple times and had no luck at resolving.  Even submitted a ticket to the programming engineers.

Then I noticed in the thread that one person mentioned changing the screen resolution from 4K to 1080p... I tried that myself and the IPTV app works like it should again and there is no loss to the screen resolution.

An easy fix to what seems as a complex problem.

Just guessing, but whatever trick the developer was using to access the MAC address is causing the app to crash under 14.0.  Roku removed the ability to get the device MAC address several versions ago, so developers had to resort to tricks.

  • I am having the same issue. Has yet to be resolved with the app developer. Mine is the same. App crashes every time I try to open it.
