I had the same issue with an error of "your email isn't working"....tried all kinds of things and nothing was working. I reset my router (even though it was working just fine for all other devices in my house) and still nothing. I connected it to my mobile Hotspot through my phone for the activation and sure enough - it accepted the email and I had thr activation email within seconds! Couldn't believe it!
