This issue has not been resolved. My Gmail address is not receiving the automated emailed activation link. Also I used an alternate (not gmail) address with no success. As of today I have tried dozens of reboots, resets, unplugs, replug, and nothing has worked.
This all started this morning when no apps would connect (hours of attempts & reboot, etc & confirming wifi, internet all at excellent connection & speed) so I reckoned a Factory Reset was in order.
The above is the current result.
I just activated a device. Mine worked fine.

Do you have a DVD player, other streaming device, anything you can attach to the TV to see if that works? Are you in the United States?
Yup in the US. DVD player running fine (only device connected to tv).
