New ROKU Express 4+ digital signal processed through HDMI input on signal modulator, output from modulator through RCA to analog Panasonic TV. Sound quality and picture good on all 4choices (720, etc.). However, picture is stretched vertically. Faces are oval instead of roundish. Neither TV of ROKU have settings to correct. Please advise of a resolution. Thanks.
Current Roku models all output in a 16:9 wide screen ratio with no provisions to change this. Sounds like this tv is an old style 4:3 screen. The image is wider than your screen so the converter squeezes it together to make it fit.
You need a digital-to-analog converter that can also convert the signal to proper viewing proportions on a 4:3 screen. Your present one may have some settings to adjust this. This would either
I have the exact same issue. My old 2003 RCA tv/dvr/vcr has a way to change to letterboxing under the dvr menu, but it won't work. I'm currently trying to use my new Roku express 4K+ w/ it. I can't stand watching it w/ all of the faces elongated, so weird. Heard any other new options yet? The old vintage cartoons show in a smaller box-shaped screen, even worse. Is there nothing that can be done? I used to be able to fix this w/ cable by using the HD channels only.
